Range Portion of Course Covers
  • Instructor demonstrates two-handed standing shooting position
  • Students practice two-handed standing shooting position - without pistol and with unloaded pistol (dry-fire)
  • Students conduct the following live-fire exercises, using an 8" x 10" white paper plate target at 15':
Single-Shot Exercise
- Load and fire one (1) cartridge at a time at target - to learn correct sighting
- Rest between shots - Instructor provides feedback
- Fire a total of ten (10) shots at target

Five-Shot Exercise
- Load and fire five (5) cartridges at own pace at target - to achieve a shot group
- Rest between shots - Instructor provides feedback
- Repeat exercise until able to shoot at least three (3), five-shot groups within a
  9" diameter circle in the middle of the target

What You Need to Bring for the Course
  • High quality, safe handgun
  • 30-40 rounds of factory loaded new ammunition (
NO reloads!)
  • At least three (3) magazines or speedloaders for your handgun
  • ANSI / OSHA approved Safety Glasses - if you wear prescription glasses, you still need to wear safety glasses over your prescription glasses
  • Hearing Protection
  • Dress comfortable for outdoor conditions including sturdy footwear (NO open toe shoe or sandals!)
  • Baseball type cap with visor (recommended)
  • Bring a lunch, snacks, & drinks for the day
